Small Format/Miniature Oils
View this Collection

These are original oil paintings done on gessoed illustration board or panels. Small format is a growing category in fine art.  It is considered a wonderful way for new art collectors to start an affordable collection, or for seasoned collectors
to add to an already existing collection with art
that is small enough to be easily displayed. Small Format Art is generally considered any art that is less than 144 square inches in total (which is measured by width times height.)

Larger Format Paintings

This is a collection of all paintings that are larger
than the small format/ miniatures or the daily paintings. This category will be added to as I paint originals that will be available for sale, and also to display commissioned work.

Old Master Paintings

It is said, that by learning how the Old Masters    painted, by actually painting as they did, that
much knowledge can be gained. I totally agree
with that concept. I painted after several
Masters, and each experience taught me volumes about value, edge, color, glazes, and more. W. Bouguereau is my personal favorite artist, as I
love his exceptional handling of the human
form. Rockwell was a master at expressions
and telling a story, and Sorolla was, in my
opinion, impressionism at it's best.

Portraits

Portraits have always been my favorite ever since childhood.  I started drawing in pencil, then charcoal, pastels, acrylics and now oils. I love
to be able to not only accurately depict a face,
but to capture the subtleties that make that person unique. This section will be added to with commissions, as well as paintings of people that
I find to be challenging and interesting to paint.

Murals
View this Collection

I had a desire most of my life to paint murals, as many of the Old Masters had done. So, when we moved the family to San Diego, I was able to do just that! And with the added bonus of painting some of them with my son, Travis.  This
collection is a sampling of different themes and styles, in residential as well as commercial
locations.

Custom Dog Portraits
View this Collection

This is a small sampling of some of the many
dog portraits that I painted with acrylic and
freehand airbrush. I painted well over 50 dogs
in a few year span. I started painting them when
a friend's dog had passed, and she wanted a
portrait to honor her beloved pet. I included
several of the same breed, just to show how
unique each animal is....just as us humans!
So, when I would paint a clients' dog, it was
"their" special friend, not a generic breed
painting.

Wildlife/Western Wall Decor
View this Collection

When my husband, Steve and I moved the
family to Montana in 1989, we started a
company, Hitching Post Studio, that created
handmade mandellas and larger wall decor pieces. Steve would fabricate the piece
for me to paint.  We used leather, suede, horn beads, and imported wools. I would then
freehand airbrush the image. This collection is a sample of the art that we offered.

Art on Clothing

When I met Steve in the fall of 1984, I was a cosmotologist. With my four children, and
his three, weekends were busy to say the least,
so I wanted to find a way to work from home.
I purchased an airbrush and started teaching
myself how to paint with it, developing a style
that was similar to the softness of pastels. I was contacted by PM Magazine, hosted by Craig
Clyde, to film a special on my wildlife paintings.
I also had several other local television interviews and a syndicated newspaper article about my airbrush work. This is just a few of the paintings
that I did during that time.
